I am advocating for increased support and investment in the Head Start program, which is critical to the future of our community. Head Start provides early childhood education that prepares children from low-income families for success in school and beyond. Studies have shown that children who attend Head Start are more likely to graduate high school, earn higher wages, and contribute positively to their communities. Every dollar invested in Head Start returns nearly $8 in long-term benefits through improved education outcomes and reduced social costs. By ensuring robust funding for Head Start, we are investing in the future workforce of Ohio, strengthening families, and fostering a brighter, more prosperous tomorrow for all.

I urge you to support Head Start funding as Congress works on the FY25 budget. The Senate’s proposed funding is essential to maintain and expand access to high-quality early childhood education. The Senate bill includes:

• $544 million for a 4.4% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA)

• $125 million in additional Quality Improvement Funds

• $10 million for the Tribal Colleges and Universities–Head Start Partnership Program

It is critical that Congress adopts the Senate’s funding proposal to avoid disruptions and ensure continued services for children and families.
